Who’s « Fatima AlMehairi » ? 

I’m 21 years old,  loud, love having fun, and outgoing ! Born and raised in Dubai. I love travelling, reading, collecting all kinds of books.

 Tell us more about your brand « Bowtique », your design background and what made you become a fashion designer.

Bowtique was such a random idea that came to my mind during summer 2011, I started working on some items for myself for my trip to Paris and my friend Hunoof Hamad made a special post for me on her blog to post my outfits and that was then people started wanting to wear what I was wearing. So I started working harder on creating a line. I was done with everything by the end of November, my official photoshoot pictures will be out by the end of this month so you’ll be able to see my whole line.

How does your job as designer influence your life? Do you feel that you see things around you differently for example?

It is kind of hard to work on designs, take orders, and study all at the same time. It is time consuming and I have to make sure that it doesn’t distract me from my studies. The feeling you get after you are done with all the hard work is amazing.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I love clothes worn by women during the 50s, even though some of my designs are modern. I just love how women used to dress at that time. It’s different to me, it’s very feminine and it makes every woman beautiful.

When you create something, what goes through your mind? 

I go through a lot of thinking when creating a piece. I think of the sizes, if it’s gonna fit all kinds of bodies, and I also need to make sure that it’s gonna look great on every woman.

How do you intend women to feel when wearing « Bowtique » labeled clothing? 

I want women to feel different and special when wearing Bowtique, I see that I have different designs than all  other local designers cause I want my clients to feel unique. When wearing a Bowtique dress or skirt, they will feel very girly, feminine and great about themselves, that’s what every woman should feel like.

We have noticed on your website that famous Italian Fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni wore a « Bowtique » piece during her visit to Dubai. How did you feel about it ?

Meeting Chiara Ferragni was the perfect ending to my 2011, it was a day I can never forget. As soon as I knew that she was visiting Dubai I just had to meet her and it was a great honor that she had the time to meet me even though she was here for just a couple of days. I was travelling on the same day and I met her just 5 hours before my flight to Turkey ! Seeing her wearing Bowtique was really great, I saw the comments she got on her blog about the dress she was wearing and I got a lot of orders after she wore it. I can’t wait to see her wearing all the other pieces !

How would describe your personal style?

I love dressing up. I love vintage inspired dresses, too bad I can’t wear them everyday! I love floral prints, you can tell that I do from my line. For my everyday style, a T-shirt and jeans with high heles would do.

Do you have any Style tips or advice for this season?

I don’t believe that certain trends end. No specific style advice would do, because I believe that every woman should wear what makes her feel good,

How do you see Fashion in Middle east ? Do you think fashion is getting the attention needed in the middle east?

It’s getting more attention as time passes by, people are more aware of what they wear now and their fashion sense is changing to better, and all those new local designers are coming up with the greatest designs !

Can you tell MEF about your future projects ?

Right now I’m working on my second line, still not sure when i twill be done but for now I’m hoping that Bowtique would hit a couple of stores in Dubai !

What advice would you give for aspiring designers looking to get into Fashion design?

Work hard and be very patient, make sure you manage the time so that you don’t get stressed, and in the end the outcome will be worth it !
